Through the collaboration of our board and club members, the civic club aims to positively put our town in the spotlight and bring our community together. This is done through events held throughout the year, where we also raise funds to support different organizations in Stevensville and the Bitterroot Valley.

President

Eli Madero

Eli and his family moved to Stevensville four years ago from San Diego, seeking a break from the fast pace of city life and a chance to enjoy the close-knit feel of a small town. They were drawn to the welcoming community and saw it as the perfect place to raise their son with strong family values.

Eli didn’t just want to live in the Bitterroot Valley—he wanted to be an active part of it. After a local resident suggested joining the civic club, he and his family got involved right away. In his first year, Eli stepped into a leadership role as an alternate board member. What he enjoys most is being part of an organization that truly makes a difference in the community.

This year, Eli has taken on the role of Club President and is eager for the challenge. While he recognizes the strong leadership of former President Sean Doyle and the big shoes left to fill, he is confident in the direction ahead. “Over the last four years, our events have grown bigger and better, and with the experience and fresh ideas of our new board, there’s even more in store for the town.”

Vice President

Cheryl Burgmeier

Cheryl and her husband, Chuck, purchased their property in Stevensville 31 years ago and completed their home 16 years ago after relocating from Washington State. They quickly came to love the community and have been grateful to call it home ever since.

About 14 years ago, they joined the American Legion and Auxiliary and have remained actively involved. Cheryl took on the role of Secretary approximately 9–10 years ago and has continued to serve in that capacity. They both enjoy participating in community events, parades, and dinners, and value the opportunity retirement provides to dedicate their time to serving others.

Ten years ago, they joined the Stevensville Civic Club. When a need arose, Cheryl stepped up to serve as the club secretary when the need arose. Already holding the role of Secretary for both the Stevensville Auxiliary and the District 5 Auxiliary, she embraced the additional responsibility with enthusiasm, often joking, “What’s one more?” She's now even more valued and appreciated as our Vice President.

Secretary

Darcy Hansen

Darcy joined the Stevensville Civic Club in 2021 and volunteered to oversee the kids’ parade at the Creamery Picnic. Through that experience, she discovered how much she enjoyed serving the community and quickly grew to appreciate all that the Civic Club provides.

As the State Farm Insurance Agent in Stevensville, Darcy has embraced the community by volunteering and supporting local organizations. She and her husband, Ryan, have been married for over 25 years and have three sons: Jens (18), Gaven (15), and Dane (8).

Darcy shares, “My goal is to show the Stevensville community the same love they have shown to me as a business owner and to my family. I look forward to learning more about the history of Stevensville and continuing to grow and serve the community in the years to come.”

Treasurer

April Roush

April grew up in Florence and graduated from Florence-Carlton High School. After briefly moving away for college, she realized how much she missed the mountains and chose to return home. She has lived in the Three Mile area since 2000, where she raised her two children, both of whom attended Lone Rock and Stevensville schools.

With more than 20 years of experience in the local banking industry, she has built strong connections throughout the community. She is deeply committed to volunteerism and has dedicated her time to several local organizations. Her service includes work with the Cub Scouts of America, serving as Treasurer for Lost Trail Ski Patrol, and more than 12 years of involvement with Five Valleys Archery Club as both an officer and board member.

She has also supported the Stevensville Booster Club, served as co-chair for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and is actively involved with the American Legion Auxiliary Post 94 and the Bitterroot Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, and the Stevensville Civic Club.

Her long-standing commitment to the Bitterroot Valley reflects her dedication to community, family, and service.
